the youth of today

i am genuinely concerned for the kids these days. they are growing up so much differently than how i remember growing up.

i know times have changed, but oh my god. girls are 10 years old (or even younger!), getting their periods, wearing make up like a barbie doll, carrying cell phones, and have boyfriends! what ever happened to being a KID? getting dirty, playing outside, not caring what you looked like or what clothes you wore. these new generations are showing a downward trend for sure. i know a lot of it stems from the parenting these kids are getting, but the impact that they get from society today plays a huge factor.

and not only that. every day i walk to and from my apartment building, i pass by at least 3 of the kids in my neighborhood. the conversations i hear coming from them make my jaw drop. the little 8 year old boys saying vulgar things like "that girl does so give head, and it's good" or "motherfucker i will beat the shit out of you" is pretty scary. not to mention said boys and others getting involved in shootings.

yeah, that's right. a boy got shot in front of my apartment on tuesday evening. from what i hear, he and a couple other kids were fighting i guess, and a gun was pulled. the kid was shot, then started to get beat up. whoever did it didn't get caught. there were helicopters and sheriffs searching. but i watched the ambulance put the boy on a stretcher and take him away, leaving a pool of blood staining the asphalt in the parking lot where he was laying. they brought him to the entrance of the complex and a helicopter took him to the hospital.

prior to this occurring, i was on my macbook looking at some things, and i heard what i thought at first was a gunshot. but it didn't sound like a gunshot really. then i heard another. i waited to hear screaming or crying, but nothing. so i figured it was a firecracker or something silly that these kids have all the time. didn't think twice to get up and look out of my window to witness this take place. shortly after, a friend showed up to my apartment and walked in, telling me he can't believe i don't keep my door locked. of course i asked why, and then he told me about the boy laying down there, shot.

i think it is absolutely insane how these young people can get involved in things so serious. hell, when i was at that age, i had no clue things like that even existed. nothing else mattered to me except playing with my friends and having fun. being a kid.

it's a fucking shame.

EDIT:

apparently it wasn't a boy at all. it was a 25 year old guy. he looked pretty young and small from where i was watching. and he ended up dying at the hospital :(

but here is the story from the newspaper:
